Does Pillsbury Still Make Bscon Egg and Cheese Strudel
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Look, Internet: We at Pillsbury Toaster Scrambles™ love bacon, but we are sick of you talking about bacon.
A recent social analysis showed bacon is talked about five times more often than sausage online. So this October, during National Sausage Month, as we announce 50 percent more meat, egg and cheese in Toaster Scrambles new product recipe, we're going to talk about sausage, not bacon, in the name of #MeatEquality. (But don't worry, we still sell Toaster Scrambles with bacon.)
"People just love bacon, and it's all over social media," says Polly Madsen, marketing manager for Pillsbury Toaster Scrambles. "To celebrate our new Toaster Scrambles frozen breakfast product, now made with 50 percent more meat, and show that sausage deserves to be equally famous on the Internet, we are challenging passionate, meat-loving fans to tweet about their love of sausage during National Sausage Month in support of #MeatEquality."
The company reviewed social media data from the last year to show just how much more bacon has dominated the breakfast conversation. If cats are social media's queen, bacon is its king. To bring this to life, Toaster Scrambles created the "Breakfast #MeatEquality" infographic, highlighting the disparity between the bacon and sausage buzz. Social media statistics show there have been 985,563 social mentions for sausage versus 4,582,445 social mentions for bacon1 and 34,816 sausage Facebook Page Likes versus 6,567,704 bacon Facebook Page Likes2. Further, Google Trends results show that users are searching bacon way more often than sausage. Take a look at all the facts in the Toaster Scrambles "Breakfast #MeatEquality" infographic on the Pillsbury Toaster Strudel™ Twitter page (@ToasterStrudel).
The conversation won't change overnight, but for the next 30 days, Toaster Scrambles is asking sausage supporters to tweet their support for the #MeatEquality movement to help even up the conversation. Throughout the month, Toaster Scrambles will be posting updates and fun sausage and bacon facts on the Toaster Strudel social channels. Let's give sausage its turn in the spotlight.
Don't worry bacon lovers, there's something for everyone. Try the four flavors of the new and improved Toaster Scrambles pastries: Sausage, Egg, and Cheese; Bacon, Egg, and Cheese; Bacon, Sausage, Egg, and Cheese; and Egg and Cheese. All varieties are made with real scrambled eggs and delicious cheese sauce wrapped in a flaky pastry crust.
