To make this ground beef and rice dish, I started by dumping some lean ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
I added some diced onions to the pan with the ground beef while it was cooking.
I crumbled the ground beef well as it cooked.
Once the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained the grease from the pan.
Then I added some condensed chicken broth and water to the pan.
I added some white minute rice to the pan.
I stirred until all of the rice was submerged in the liquid.
Then I left the dish to simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until all of the liquid was absorbed by the rice.
Once no liquid remained, I added some ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, pepper and brown sugar to the pan.
I stirred until all of the ingredients were fully combined.
I left the dish to simmer for four minutes and then I removed the pan from the heat.
I added some shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese to the pan.
I stirred until the cheese was melted.
Then I sprinkled some more shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese on top of the ground beef and rice and did not stir.
I left the dish to sit for a few minutes so that the cheese on top could melt.
Then the cheesy ground beef and rice was ready to serve.
This one pot dinner has all the flavours of a classic sloppy joe.

- 10.5 oz condensed chicken broth
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups white Minute rice
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
How to Make One Pot Sloppy Joe Ground Beef and Rice:
- Dump the ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the diced onions to the pan with the ground beef as it's cooking and stir well.
- Crumble the ground beef well.
- Once the ground beef is fully cooked, drain the grease from the pan.
- Add the condensed chicken broth and water to the pan with the cooked ground beef still over medium-high heat.
- Add the Minute rice to the pan and stir until all of the rice is submerged in the liquid.
- Leave to simmer, stirring occasionally, until all of the liquid is absorbed by the rice.
- Add the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, salt, pepper and brown sugar to the pan.
- Stir until all of the ingredients are fully combined.
- Leave the dish to simmer for 4 minutes.
- After 4 minutes, remove the pan from the heat and add 2 cups of the shredded cheese to the pan.
- Stir until the cheese is melted.
- Sprinkle the remaining cup of shredded cheese on top and do not stir.
- Cover the pan and leave it to sit for a few minutes so that the cheese on top will melt.
- Serve and enjoy!
